Chapter 12

“Okay. Hold it together. It’s not as bad as you might think,” Olivia said to Charlene who was pretending to be Nikki.

“I can’t lose this advertisement for Nikki. She would be pissed at me.”

“We can handle this. Just remind them of their contract with the club. I would speak to them but they have never had to deal with me in the past. That would confuse them. Remember, act and think like your sister. Go get ‘em!”

Olivia waited in the wings and watched Charlene potentially ruin it all for Nicole. Olivia had been waiting for the day that she could show her full potential. With this new information, she could destroy Nikki. She was content waiting a little longer for the right opportunity to blow their Trading Places plan into a million pieces.

A few minutes later, Charlene had cleared the mess up with the clients. “If I can survive that, I think I can survive anything that gets thrown at me now.”

“Don’t be so sure. There are so many things that could change at the drop of a hat around here within the time that you are here. If it happens when I’m not around, just text or call. Nikki didn’t show me everything that she did here, but I will try and steer you in the right direction.”

“You don’t sugar coat things, do you? Well, I thank you for your bluntness.”

“Speaking of blunts, I think the lead guitarist from Toxic is here to see you…well to see Nikki. They had a little bit of a fling. So, do you want me to take care of him for you? I don’t think Nicole wanted you to do everything exactly as she did, if you know what I mean.”

“If you don’t mind getting rid of him for me, be my guest. That’s the last thing that I need to worry about is a rock band figuring out I’m not who I say I am. I’m sure he would pick up on a few things right away…I would have no memories of things they’ve said and done together.”

“I don’t mind talking to him. He’s fucking fine!”

Charlene waited until Olivia had convinced him that Nikki wasn’t feeling well. Olivia must have talked him into going somewhere else with her instead. No matter the circumstance, Charlene was relieved to avoid one less hurdle.

She went back out into the front of the club. She hoped not to run into anymore of Nikki’s ex’s. She forgot that there was still one person who wouldn’t mind dating Nikki. Charlene noticed Lita at the bar as she prepared a few rounds of drinks. When Lita was finished with the drinks, she waved Charlene over.

“So, did you have fun the other night or what?” Lita asked.

“More than I thought was imaginable,” Charlene replied.

“Well, whenever you want to hang out again let me know. There’s actually another club that is just as cool. I’m sure going to another gay bar wouldn’t bother you…since you said it’s all about the research,” Lita said with a hint of sarcasm.
